On October 17, 2026, representatives of Australian water purifier company RE visited STARWAY MFG GROUP. The visit brought the customer together with STARWAY’s key account and manufacturing teams for a detailed discussion of prototype samples and product quality expectations.
The Shanghai meeting focused on the sheet metal enclosure for a water purification product, including visible surface quality, powder-coated finish, assembly fit, and the supporting evidence required for performance testing. Rather than treating these topics as general cosmetic preferences, the teams reviewed them as practical acceptance criteria that need to be evaluated against physical samples.

Shanghai meeting / sample review / quality requirements discussion
A central discussion point was the classification of visible surfaces. The customer requested that the rear face of the upright water purifier enclosure also be treated as a Class A appearance surface, alongside the product’s other visible faces. This change raises the importance of consistent color, finish, and surface protection across the enclosure.
The teams also discussed scratch acceptance after powder coating. The customer’s preferred outcome is a scratch-free visible finish; however, the final practical acceptance limits remain subject to review of physical samples. Scratches that penetrate the coating and expose the underlying substrate are not acceptable to the customer because of potential corrosion risk.
Other appearance considerations included small surface pinholes or pores, which the customer may evaluate based on their visibility in actual samples. Marks occurring before coating were considered less important than the appearance of the finished, coated part. These discussions will help define an objective reference sample and inspection approach.
Assembly fit was another focus of the review. The customer expressed concern about a proposed 5 mm installation gap and will assess the fit and visual consistency after receiving or inspecting the physical sample. The final gap acceptance criteria have not yet been confirmed.
The customer also requested documentary evidence for salt-spray corrosion resistance and UV-aging performance. STARWAY’s project and quality teams will need to confirm the applicable test requirements and provide appropriate test reports or certificates for customer review. No completed test result or certification is claimed in this update.

The discussion connected product appearance requirements with manufacturing control points, including sheet metal forming, welding, grinding, surface preparation, powder coating, and final inspection. For an enclosure with multiple Class A surfaces, controlling weld distortion, surface transitions, handling marks, coating consistency, and assembled gaps is especially important.
STARWAY’s engineering-driven approach is to translate customer feedback into clearly documented manufacturing and inspection requirements, then verify the proposed criteria through sample evaluation before final approval. Items still under discussion—including permissible minor appearance defects and assembly-gap limits—will be finalized with the customer rather than presented as agreed specifications.
Following the Shanghai discussions, STARWAY’s key account and factory teams accompanied the RE visitors to STARWAY Nantong. The factory visit provided an opportunity to review manufacturing operations and discuss how production and quality controls can support the customer’s water purifier enclosure project.
By connecting the customer’s sample feedback with on-site manufacturing conversations, the visit supported closer alignment between design intent, finish expectations, inspection planning, and future production requirements.
The visit marked another step in the working relationship between RE and STARWAY. The immediate priority is to evaluate samples, confirm measurable appearance and fit criteria, and align the required testing documentation before the next production decisions are made.
