plastic compression moulding

Granules – Small pieces of plastic that are used in the plastic injection molding process. These granules are small pieces of plastic, about the size of a pea. First, these granules are loaded into a special device called a mould. This metal mould is designed in a way to resemble the object that one would like to produce, such as a cup, a toy car, or plenty of others.

Once the granules have entered the mould, a machine will heat the mould up until the plastic starts to liquify. This takes an extremely high temperature, even above boiling water! The machine presses down on the melted plastic. This pressure forces the molten plastic to take the shape of the mould. This whole process is what we call compression!

The benefits of using compression moulding for plastic production

There are tons of advantages in creating plastic products through compression moulding. Most importantly, it is an extremely quick and efficient procedure. Because the plastic is melted and formed in one motion, production of a large quantity of parts can be done fairly quickly and easily. Such efficiency means that companies such as Starway produce an incredible number of products in a very limited but efficient span of time, which is excellent for demand fulfillment of customers.

One of the other benefits of compression moulding is that it generally results in the production of quality plastic products. The plastic can be pressed with enough force into the mould, resulting that extremely smooth, and even surface. That makes the end result polished and attractive, with a smoothness.
